Visceral fat: 'One quick fix' to banish the dangerous belly fat

What is fibre?

The British Nutrition Foundation stated: "Fibre is a type of carbohydrate that the body cannot break down.
"[Fibre] passes through our gut into our large intestine (or colon).

Doctor Kazlauskaite made clear that there are "many things you may need to improve to lose belly fat".

One of the best next moves would be to incorporate more movement into your lifestyle.

"For both men and women, the first fat you lose when you exercise is visceral fat," said Doctor Kazlauskaite.
"Simply walking briskly an hour each day can have an impact by boosting your metabolism, as can adding an incline to your treadmill routine.
"Even fidgeting can be a good way to burn excess energy to help prevent the build-up of visceral fat.
Taking up an active hobby, such as sport or dance, could be a great way to increase how much movement you have in one week.

What happens if I let visceral fat build up?

Experts at Harvard Medical School pointed out the health risks associated with visceral fat.

Considered a "key player" in a variety of health problems, too much visceral fat is linked to:

Cardiovascular disease
High cholesterol
Insulin resistance.

If you commit to 30 minutes of daily activity, you will be able to shift the harmful belly fat.
But diet is also important, including portion size – so try not to overeat.

Dietitian Maya Aboukhater said: "If you want to reduce your belly fat... eat the right kinds of food."
Aboukhater recommends eating "at least five portions of fruit and vegetables each day".
And to eat "more beans, pulses, fish and eggs" while avoiding adding salt or sugar. Meanwhile, it's important to avoid adding salt or sugar to your meals.
